Jing - Screen Capturing

Screen Capturing is a wonderful technological tool for educators. Programs will record your voice and what you do on your computer and make a movie/presentation about it. You can use this in many ways -

1. Show students how to use a website

2. To record yourself reading a book and students can watch later

3. To capture a part of the screen and make a picture

4. To provide feedback/assessment to students with your voice and editing their work

There are two incredible options. Both very easy to use.

1. Screenr: you need no download, just make an account and you get 5 free minutes and your videos are stored online for you. You can even download them as an mp4 video. Note - you will need a twitter account to use Screenr! See my Screenr videos here for some examples!

2. Jing: a free open source program for both PC and Macs. Unlimited minutes but no online storage. You'll have to upload to youtube or vimeo or another video site.  See this great tutorial on how to download and use Jing in a jiffy!
